A collection of artworks capturing musical vignettes, artists, and settings. In this series we focus in on the prolific creative powerhouse Lo Carmen and the works she produced for Lovers Dreamers Fighters.


"We've all got them, the lighters of the way, those mythological wonders who glow in our dark. These are the ones I got to be close to, whether in a real or allusive sense; these are the ones that got to me in a way that still flows through my veins...


Spending so much time researching, reflecting and thinking about all the wonderful artists I've been inspired by over the past couple of years, made me feel like painting some little portraits, so here they are... painted with love, by me."

The Bobbie Gentry song 'Fancy', recorded at Fame Recording Studios with the one & only Rick Hall, has always been some kind of North Star for me. I love it’s strength and defiance and determination and pride and willingness to do whatever is necessary to survive. And I love Bobbie’s vision and imagination and storytelling. I’ve covered this song more times than I could ever count and I’ve always got goosebumps singing it. This one’s from the heart.

I love Tony Joe White so much - his voice, his songs, his guitar playing, his foot stomping, his attitude. What I also really love is how he always credited hearing Bobbie Gentry on the radio with realising maybe he could try and write a song too, about real things, Southern things, people he knew...
